Turkish coal-fired power plant unit back online in March-April

World Coal,

The 600 MW unit one at Turkish steelmaker Icdas' 1.2 GW Bekirli coal-fired power plant is not expected to return to service until the end of March or beginning of April.

According to Argus Media, the unit went offline for unplanned maintenance at the end of November and is a significant loss for the system, given its base-load coal-fired operation.

Icdas owns and operates a 405 MW coal-fired plant in the western coastal province of Canakkale, as well as the 1.2 GW Bekirli plant, which runs on imported coal. The first 600 MW unit at Bekirli came online in December 2011, while the second 600 MW unit came online last summer.
