On 18 July, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) extended deadlines in its Coal Combustion Residuals rule. America’s Power (ACCCE) issued the following statement by Michelle Bloodworth, President and CEO:
“We are pleased that EPA has made much-needed changes that will allow for the flexible implementation of the CCR rule, while ensuring the protection of the environment. Most importantly, EPA has extended certain deadlines in its Coal Combustion Residuals rule. These extensions are necessary to give EPA time to make changes to the CCR rule based on legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama in late 2016. We look forward to working with EPA as it develops changes that protect the environment and avoid more coal retirements which are a threat to the reliability and resilience of the electricity grid.”
