World Coal,
The US National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) has chosen six projects to receive funding through its University Coal Research Program, which funds R&D at US colleges and universities for coal conversion and utilisation.
According to a US Department of Energy press release, research funded by this program “improves the fundamental understanding of chemical and physical processes for environmentally friendly coal conversion and utilization, byproduct utilization and technological development.”
The projects to be funded will each last about 36 months and fall under two subtopic areas: sensors and controls and simulation-based engineering.
