Yokogawa provides control systems for Vietnamese power plant
Yokogawa Electric subsidiary, Yokogawa Engineering Asia, has been awarded a contract by Toshiba Plant Systems & Services for the supply of control systems for the Thai Binh coal-fired thermal power plant in Vietnam.
Toshiba Plant Systems & Services is responsible for the deployment of the electrical and other facilities at the 600 MW power plant.
Being built by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) in the Thai Thuy district of Thai Binh province in northern Vietnam, the Thai Binh coal-fired power plant features two 300 MW units.
The first unit is set to commence operation in October 2017.
Under the contract, Yokogawa will supply a CENTUM VP integrated production control system and an Exaquantum plant information management system, which will integrate control and monitoring systems for the boilers, turbines, and auxiliary facilities at the plant.
The company is scheduled to deliver all systems for unit 1 of the facility by September 2016.
Yokogawa equipment is being used by a number of coal-fired thermal facilities in the country, such as Pha Lai 2, Vung Ang 1, Nghi Son 1, and Mong Duong 2.
Over 30 coal-fired power plants currently are either under construction or in the planning stage in the country.
