Construction support for Philippines coal-fired power plant

Jacobs Engineering Group has been awarded a contract by Aboitiz Power subsidiary, Therma Visayas, to support the construction of a 2 x 150 MW circulating fluidised bed (CFB) coal-fired power plant in Barangay Bato, Toledo City, the Philippines.

Under the contract, Jacobs will serve as the owner's engineer, while also performing design review and providing comments and feedback to engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, Hyundai Engineering.

The contract scope also includes supporting the owner by reviewing plans against contract specifications, providing technical documents in accordance with relevant design codes and standards, reviewing commissioning test procedures as well as attending off-site fabrication shop inspections and factory acceptance tests.

Scheduled to be completed in 2017, the power plant features two CFB boilers with reheat and steam turbine generators, as well as a coal unloading jetty inclusive of unloading equipment, conveyor system, coal storage dome, ash handling system and storage facility, water treatment and wastewater treatment plants and other ancillary buildings and equipment.
