The 11th International Conference and Exhibition on Emissions Monitoring took place 14 – 16 May in Istanbul, Turkey, to generally positive reviews. “It was a good conference with up-to-date information on legislation and standards and practical information on monitoring”, said Olli Antson a delegate from the VTT Technical Research Centre in Finland.

The main conference themes were:

  • Regulation: international and industrial.
  • Standards, quality assurance and control.
  • Equipment innovation.
  • Industrial case studies: monitoring and control.

According to the post-conference press release, presentations covered all of the major pollutants, as well as process and emissions monitoring issues for all types of regulated processes, including power plants, steelworks, industrial processes, combined heat and power plants, energy from waste systems and carbon capture.

In addition, 52 companies took part in the exhibition with exhibitors including leading players in the emissions monitoring market, e.g. instrumentation manufacturers, analytical service providers, regulators and accreditation organisations.

Since the inaugural meeting in 1997, the CEM conferences have been held in the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Italy, Czech Republic and Turkey. The next event, CEM 2016, will take place during May in Lisbon, Portugal.
