Atlas Copco opens South Africa office

World Coal,

Atlas Copco has opened a new customer distribution and service centre in South Africa.

The new facilities east of Johannesburg will be the centre for distribution of equipment from all four of Atlas Copco’s business areas, such as compressors, rock drills, construction equipment and power tools.

Equipment and servicing

The centre will provide shopping opportunities for customers that may require a wide range of equipment. Servicing facilities will also be available at the site. The company invested approximately MZAR 200 in the construction of the new customer office.

Atlas Copco CEO, Ronnie Leten, commented: “South Africa is an important market to us. This investment in the new center will benefit customers by giving them easier access to our products and improved service”.

Environmental standards

Currently, there are approximately 450 employees at the premises, which are located on 20 acres of land and also host an administration building. The centre adheres to environmental standards: the construction process included recycling of excess material excavated from the site, and installation of solar water heating and low-energy lighting.
