Curragh mine coal production jumps in 3Q15

Coal production at Wesfarmers’ Curragh mine was up 5.7% in 3Q15 compared to the previous quarter at 3.31 million t. Of this, 2.37 million t was metallurgical coal, representing a 2.6% rise, while 941 000 t was steam coal – a 14.5% rise.
Overburden removal was 13.5% down on the previous quarter.
For the twelve months to the end of September, metallurgical coal production was down slightly on the previous twelve months by 0.5% to 9.15 million t. Thermal coal production was down 6.4% to 3.29 million t.
