John Schubert steps down from BHP Billiton board

Long-serving member of the BHP Billiton board of directors, Dr John Schubert, will retire at the end of the company’s annual general meeting in November, the company has announced.

Dr Schubert had been a non-executive director of BHP Billiton predecessor, BHP Ltd, since 2000 and a director of BHP Billiton since June 2001. He also served as the Chairman of the Sustainability Committee, a position that will be filled with immediate effect by Malcolm Brindred.

“We wish John all the best for the future and will miss his wise counsel and judgment,” said BHP Billiton Chairman, Jac Nasser.
