World Coal,
Vietnamese coal mining company, Vinacomin, recorded sales of 18 million t for 1H15, 2.8% lower than in 2014, according to a company statement.
Domestic sales fell slightly as some cement producers did not honour contracts to buy coal and the company suspended other deliveries due to non-payment for previous shipments.
Meanwhile, export volume fell dramatically to 704,000 t – only 18% of last year’s total – as the country aims to boost power generation from its coal resources.
In 3Q15, the company plants to sell 7.8 million t of coal with full year sales volumes targeted at 35 – 36 million.
