World Coal,
Hexagon Mining has provided another mine in South Africa with SAFEmine. Exxaro’s Grootegeluk coal mine has implemented the SAFEmine Collision Avoidance System (CAS), which includes SafetyCentre, TrackingRadar and FatigueMonitor – a complete safety package. CAS will be installed in the company’s entire fleet of over 60 haul trucks and over 180 other vehicles.
SafetyCentre will provide the haul truck operators with a single touch screen, showing surrounding vehicles and untagged objects, such as ground personnel. It uses TrackingRadar, up to three cameras and includes alerts from CAS. It also includes FatigueMonitor for the operators, which integrates data from fatigue detection and collision avoidance units to minimise accidents involving mining vehicles.
