Sandvik maintain operations in Finland

Sandvik Mining want to guarantee long-term commitment to its customers and maintain a strong market position in key areas and therefore has decided to continue its operations in Turku, Finland.
Following a further investigation of the competitive landscape, the current market situation and risks involved, Sandvik will keep up the activities in and deliveries from the Turku plant.
In a press release, the company apologised for any inconveniences caused by the preceding decision to close operations.
Scot Smith, President, Sandvik Mining stated: “We deeply apologise for the inconveniences that this may have caused for the employees concerned and others affected by the previous decision. The complete supply chain process is complex and the impact of changes can be difficult to foresee.”
The impact of the decision will be assessed in the perspective of the supply chain optimisation programme as a whole.
“We will continue to focus forward to fulfil and exceed our customer commitments and expectations”, commented Scot Smith.
