EIA releases 6W15 US coal production estimate

Weekly production at US coal mines totaled 18.1 million short t, according to the latest weekly estimate from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) – 10% lower than last week but still 3.1% higher than the same week in 2014.
Production east of the Mississippi dropped by 900 000 short t to 7.5 million short t, while west of the river production was down to 10.6 million short t, compared to 11.7 million short t last week.
Year-to-date production remains ahead of last year’s at 103.9 million short t – 3.3% up on the same period in 2014.
