Solid Energy names new CEO
Coal miner Solid Energy has named Dan Clifford as the company’s new CEO.
Dan Clifford, general manager of Glencore Xstrata’s Ulan complex of coal mines in New South Wales, will assume the position in May, according to Solid Energy’s acting chair, Pip Dunphy. Clifford has over 20 years’ experience in Australian and South African mines.
Restructured mining operations
Dunphy commented: “Dan has successfully restructured mining operations to be more efficient and economic and leaves behind, at Ulan, a significantly improved health and safety performance across that operation which produces 11 million t of coal a year, with a workforce of about 900 people.”
Clifford will take over from Garry Diack, who was named acting CEO after Don Elder’s departure.
