Sandvik’s R&D chief to retire

Olle Wijk, Executive Vice President and Head of Group R&D at Sandvik, is to retire next April, the company has announced, at the age of 65.
He will also step down from the Group Executive Management committee from the end of this year, acting as a Group Senior Advisor reporting to President and CEO, Björn Rosengren, until his retirement.
“I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the devoted job performed by Olle Wijk during many years,” said Rosengren. “His contributions are substantial and his strategic and innovative direction will be the guiding start for our innovation activities also in the future.”
Wijk joined Sandvik in 1980 and has held several senior positions in the company over the years, joining the Group Executive Management team in 2014.
Following Wijk’s departure from Group Executive Management, R&D strategy will be the responsibility of the Business Area Presidents.
