Cloud Peak appoints Robert Skaggs to board

Cloud Peak Energy, the only pure-play Powder River Basin (PRB) coal company, has appointed Robert Skaggs to its Board of Directors. Skaggs is currently Chairman of the Board and CEO of Columbia Pipeline Group (CPG) and will serve on the Audit, Compensation and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees.
“We are excited to have Bob join our Board,” said Keith Bailey, Chairman of the Board of Cloud Peak. “Bob has a strong background in the natural gas and electric generation industries, including coal-fired generation, and brings additional executive leadership experience to the board.”
Skaggs previously served as CEO of NiSource, an energy holding company involved in natural gas transmission, storage and distribution, as well as electricity generation from a range of fuels, including coal.
Headquartered in Wyoming, Cloud Peak Energy operated three opencast mines in the PRB: the Antelope and Cordero Roja mines in Wyoming and the Spring Creek mine in Montana. Last year, the company shipped about 86 million short t.
