Balkan coal mines acquire new Eickhoff shearers
Balkan-based customers from Slovenia and Bosnia have selected Eickhoff Bergbautechnick to modernise their range of machines by acquiring new high power Eickhoff type SL 300 shearers.
Bosnian coal mines in Breza have been using Eickhoff shearers since the late 1960s. In those days, the Eickhoff EDW-300-L shearer continuously mined coal at cutting heights of up to 5 m, a record at the time.
Earlier this year, three new Eickhoff SL 300 shearer loaders were installed; one each at the Bosnian Breza and Banovice mines, as well as at the Slovenian Velenje mine.
With an installed power of 1.158 MW, the Eickhoff SL 300 is perfectly geared to mid-seam applications between 1.6 m and 4.0 m.
A total of six Eickhoff shearers are now operating in the Ex-Jugoslavian region, enabling mines in the region to sustainably produce coal from domestic sources.
