World Coal,
Milwaukee-based mine lighting manufacturer, Phoenix Products Co. Inc., has received the Joy Global 2013 Premier Supplier Award.
Presenting the award, Christopher Schmit, senior buyer at Joy Global, explained that there were three criteria recipients had to fulfill. The first was quality: “Phoenix is a very dependable product for us. We never have any quality concerns in the field and again it all starts here in Milwaukee.”
He continued by saying: “Our second goal, as important as quality, is on-time delivery. As you all are well aware, lighting can be a safety issue. If lighting goes down, we need to be responsive to our customers to get them a new light as soon as possible,” said Schmit.
The third criterion was based on what Schmit called the “value-add” that Phoenix provides. Schmit gave numerous examples of Phoenix employees delivering products by hand to fulfill an urgent need for Joy Global. That is the type of service and dedication that is being recognised with this award.
Phoenix’s relationship with Joy Global goes back to the 1950s. It has recently pioneered new LED light fixtures and credit Joy Global with being the first to recognize the value of this technology and launch it in the mining space in a big way.
