New coal processing site to be built in Pennsylvania

World Coal,

Coalview Ltd has announced plans to build a fine coal processing plant in eastern Pennsylvania. The processing facility will consist of a full rail and truck loud-out, as well as a fine coal recovery (FC) plant, which will be built to process approximately 300,000 tpa.

“We are actively looking to work with local producers of anthracite where they have existing or legacy impoundments to process their fine coals,” explained Roger Fish, Coalview’s CEO. “There are numerous properties in the Pennsylvania area that can benefit from our technologies.”

Coalview provides technology and environmental solutions for mining property owners across the US. The new processing facility will produce various sizes of anthracite from fine anthracite in partnership with current producers. Anthracite contains more fixed carbon than any other type of coal, and also has the least amount of ash and volatile matter. The product can be used as a domestic fuel product, or for use in steam-electric power generation.

David Schwedel, Coalview’s executive director, and lead investor said the company planned to invest around US$ 50 million on constructing the processing facility. “This is a great opportunity to assist existing anthracite producers in the Pennsylvania area, and will positively affect employment in the area as we believe the project will impact more than 100 direct and indirect jobs in Pennsylvania,” Schwedel said.

Coalview said that the location in eastern Pennsylvania provided a number of advantages, due to the number of existing and former anthracite producers in the area that could make use of the fine coal recovery complex.

David Henry, President of Coalview Recovery Group, LLC, also explained that “Pennsylvania is one of the highest-ranked states for mining expertise in the US, and we are proud to have our primary FCR & Laboratory headquartered in the State as well.”
