Pacific American Coal (PAK) has completed its exploration programme at the Elko coal project in British Colombia, Canada, and has moved forward to geological modelling of the resource. The company expects to announce a JORC-compliant inferred resource in 4Q15.
Exploration of the Elko area has been regularly performed for over 50 yr by a number of companies, including Japanese trading company, Mitsui, in the 1960s to Cline Mining in 2005.
PAK’s latest exploration programme included ground surveys of the project area that successfully verified most of the locations of the drill holes, adits, outcrops and faults that had been identified in the historical geological reports.
PAK has now identified five coal seams within the area covered by its coal licences. It has also begun to engage with First Nations to “facilitate and assist with exploration activities,” the company said.
