Coal intersected at Nuurstei project 2015 drilling programme

Coal seams have been intersected in the first ten holes of this year’s drilling programme at the Nuurstei project in Mongolia, according to an exploration update from the company, with the best intersections showing 15.3 m cumulative thickness of coal from 51.4 m and 9.6 m of coal from 71.6 m.
The Nuustei project is being undertaken by the Aspire and Noble Group Ekhgoviin Chuluu Joint Venture in the north of Mongolia and close to the Erdenet-to-Ovoot railway currently being developed by Aspire’s subsidiary, Northern Railways.
According to the company, the intersected coal seams are consistently steeply dipping and banded (coal and non-coal). The thick coal packages found so far are suspected to be structurally thickened by reverse faults that have repeated the coal seams in the drill hole.
About 40 holes are planned during this year’s drilling season with the aim of increasing confidence levels in coal seam correlation and establishing coal resources that can be reported in accordance with the 2012 JORC Code.
