Vinacomin and the north-central Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee have signed an agreement over the construction process for the Quynh Lap 1 thermal power project. The investment in this coal-fired power plant is US$1.8 billion and, once completed, is expected to produce an annual capacity of 1200 MW.
Vinacomin will prepare detailed construction planning at a scale of 1/500 before 15 August 2015 and submit it to the provincial government. It is estimated backfilling the project will begin before 30 June 2016 and the plant will commence operation in 2020.
Le Minh Chuan, Chairman of Vinacomin''s Board of Management, has committed the company’s determination if developing the plant and believes it is a major project for both the company and for Nghe An. The Nghe An provincial government is committed to working closely with the company to build the plant and help it reach its scheduled completion.
