Westmoreland Coal reports steady 3Q15 results

Westmoreland Coal reports a steady quarter for 3Q15 with revenues increasing primarily due to the WMLP and Buckingham acquisitions and adjusted EBITDA increasing due to the WMLP and Canadian acquisitions but this was limited by poor weather conditions.

 
 
 

A balancing act

Despite low costs of production, it is Indonesian producers that are doing much of the leg work to rebalance the seaborne thermal coal market.

 

Anglo American reports 3Q15 coal production

Anglo American reports increases in export metallurgical coal production in Australia, yet thermal coal production was relatively flat. Higher production at Cerrejón helped offset lower production from South Africa.

 
 
 

Rio Tinto hard coking coal output grows strongly

Rio Tinto’s production of hard coking coal jumped 10% in the first nine months of the year, while thermal coal output was hit by bad weather in the Hunter Valley to finish 6% down.

Vale’s coal production dropped 12.3% y/y in 3Q15 following the stoppage of production at two of its Australian coal mines in 2014.
