Colombia cuts 2015 coal output forecast

According to the National Mining Agency, Colombia produced 23.2 million t of coal in the first three months of the year, down 5% from the same period last year.

The agency expects output for all of 2015 to be at least 87 million t. This figure is lower than the original forecast of around 97 million t due to a recent legal restriction halting overnight use of the country's main coal railway.

The National Mining Agency stated that production could increase if the restriction on the Feneco railway is resolved. The owners of the railway are currently carrying out work to overturn the issue.

Works are expected to take a month more to finish.
