World Coal,
Wyoming coal mining company, Cloud Peak Energy, is preparing to move a dragline from its Cordero Rojo mine to its Antelope mine to help maintain production levels of 30 million short tpa, the Casper Star Tribune has reported.
The disassembled dragline will travel the 43 miles between the mines by the middle of next month with the machine due to be back in operation by the end of next year.
Cloud Peak Energy is scaling back production at the Cordero Rojo mine by about 10 million tpa, leaving the dragline surplus to requirements there. At the Antelope mine the machine will enable to company to maintain coal production despite thickening overburden.
