Positive test results at Canadian metallurgical coal project

The drilling programme at Jameson Resources Ltd’s Crown Mountain metallurgical coal project in British Colombia, Canada, has provided positive initial results regarding coal quality.

Resource base and washability results

Drilling was focused on key north and south blocks of the project area. In total, these two blocks contain a total of 66 million t of measured and indicated resources. The Crown Mountain coal project has a total 90 million t resource base.

Laboratory results for the first of seven large diameter core holes have been received, showing that washability results are better than had been expected, averaging 71%. The washability numbers correlate directly to plant yield once adjustments are made for out-of-seam coal dilution and pit loss. Meanwhile, recoveries of the ultra-fine material via froth flotation are, in nearly all cases, exceptional. Jameson Resources released a statement saying that this ,in particular, was critical to project viability, as Elk Valley coals are quite friable and produce a large amount of fines.

Fast-track development

Work has now commenced on additional activities required to keep Crown Mountain on a fast-track to development. Procurement and installation of a climate monitoring station is now underway. Flora and fauna studies will be authorised shortly, and surface and groundwater monitoring activities continue.

Jameson Resources intends to advance the Crown Mountain project into pre-feasibility in Q4 2013, followed closely by preparation of documents required to begin the EA process.
