Edenville updates of Rukwa mining licence

World Coal,

Edenville Energy has released an update on its mining licence application for the Rukwa Coal Project in Tanzania. The application was submitted in early July of this year and since then the company has received requests for further information from the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy Minerals (MEM) – “an expected and normal process,” according to a company statement.

Edenville expects to have submitted the required information by the end of September. Following a review of the additional information, the ministry will complete an “administrative process” before the application can be granted. The company was unable to provide a date for completion of the application, saying the timing was “subject to the MEM”.

“I am extremely pleased with the progress that has been made towards the granting of the mining licence for our Rukwa Coal Project,” said Rufus Short, CEO of Edenville in a statement. “Having a mining licence in place will significantly enhance our options for development and positively affects our discussion with both potential partners and sources of finance for project development.”

The company also said that it had conducted several meetings with potential EPC partners during September, including positive further meetings with Shandong Electric Power Construction No.2 Co. (SEPCO2) and other potential Chinese partners.
