Peabody elects Sutherlin to board

Peabody Energy has elected Michael Sutherlin, the former president and CEO of mining equipment maker, Joy Global, to the company's board of directors. "Sutherlin brings to the Peabody board decades of experience in the extraction industry as well as an unparalleled depth of knowledge of mining technologies," said Peabody’s chairman and CEO Gregory Boyce. "His experience as the head of a global, industry-leading company will add significant value to Peabody's own global platform."
Sutherlin served as president and CEO of Joy Global Inc. from 2006 until his retirement this year. Before this role, he served as president and CEO of Joy Mining Machinery.
Peabody Energy is the world's largest private-sector coal company and a global leader in sustainable mining and clean coal solutions. The company serves metallurgical and thermal coal customers in more than 25 countries on six continents.
