BHP Billiton’s 3Q15 production of thermal and metallurgical coal was in line with 3Q14.

Rio Tinto’s production of hard coking coal jumped 10% in the first nine months of the year, while thermal coal output was hit by bad weather in the Hunter Valley to finish 6% down.

Universal Coal is set to increase its thermal resource base by 25% from the acquisition of the Arnot South project from Exxaro.

Vale’s coal production dropped 12.3% y/y in 3Q15 following the stoppage of production at two of its Australian coal mines in 2014.
