Murray American confirms wage reopener agreement with the United Mine Workers of America

Murray American Energy, Inc. has confirmed that the Bituminous Coal Operators’ Association, Inc. (BCOA) has reached agreement with the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) on the wage reopener in the 2016 Labor Agreement.
The company is pleased to confirm that the parties have negotiated and agreed to a wage increase at the five Murray American Mines, where the hourly employees are represented by the UMWA, with a US$0.50/hr increase beginning 15 August 2019, and an additional US$0.50/hr increase effective 1 January 2021.
Additionally, the parties agreed, effective 1 January 2021, to restore the birthday holiday that UMWA members gave up when the current agreement was ratified in 2016.
