India to mine 1 billion t of coal by 2019

Coal India (CIL) could mine 1 billion t of coal by 2019, according to the country’s coal secretary, Anil Swarup, doubling its present output.
According to The Economic Times, Swarup told media that CIL has set a target to explore the possibility of pushing production to 1 billion t from its coal mines.
Swarup was meeting with officials of the Odisha state government to review its plans to boost state coal production from 110 million t to 200 million t.
