Ukraine’s coal industry’s woes continue

Ukraine’s coal output plunged by over a half in 1H15, according to rough estimates quoted by Interfax-Ukraine, with metallurgical coal output particularly hard hit.
Coal production overall dropped y/y by 21.3 million t – or 52.2% – to 19.5 million t with metallurgical coal output down 64% to 4.1 million t and thermal coal dropping 47.7% to 15.4 million t.
State-owned coal mines were even harder hit with production dropping by 72.3% to 3.4 million t.
