The management of Russian coal company, SUEK, and Chinese coal giant, Shenhua Group, have held a meeting in Moscow to discuss areas of potential collaboration.
According to a SUEK press release, the two sides exchanged views on the global coal industry and market dynamics, as well as discussing topics of mutually beneficial cooperation in coal mining, processing and supply.
“We appreciate the Shenhua Group’s position as the leader of the coal industry in China and globally,” said SUEK SEO, Vladimir Rashevsky. “Our company has a proven track record in cooperation, and I am convinced we will be able to find new grounds for collaboration here.”
Shenhua was represented by Vice President Wang Jinli, who also expressed confidence that the two companies would find areas in which to cooperate, stressing that from the Chinese perspective, “the role of coal in power generation will not see significant changes over the next 30 – 50 years.”
SUEK, Russian largest coal company, supplies both domestic and export markets, operating mining, processing and transportation assets. Shenhua – the largest coal company in China and one of the largest in the world – produces and market coal, operates railroads and ports and produces electricity.
