Westmoreland extends Heskett coal supply agreement

Through its Dakota Westmoreland Corp. subsidiary, Westmoreland Coal Co. has entered into an extension of its long-term coal supply agreement with Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. to supply coal from the Beulah mine to the R.M. Heskett power plant in Mandan, North Dakota.
The agreement includes a commitment of approximately 450 000 tpy of coal from Beulah until 31 December 31 2021.
“For over 50 years, the Beulah mine has served the Heskett Station,” commented Keith E. Alessi, Westmoreland’s CEO. “Our Beulah coal miners have a deep tradition of safely and efficiently mining lignite in Mercer County, North Dakota, and this contract extension will be warmly welcomed by our employees, allowing them to continue their rich tradition of safe production and exceptional post mining land reclamation.”
