Tajikistan increases coal production

Coal production in Tajikistan has made strides over 2014, ramping up production 1.7 times in the first 8 months of the year.

The country has produced 450,000 t more coal so far in 2014 than it had at the same point last year, according to Tajikistan’s ministry of Industry and New Technologies.

More than 80,000 t of coal has been stockpiled, according to the ministry. This will be used for the Dushanbe-2 combined heat and power plant.

In 2013, coal production in Tajikistan amounted to 518,000 t. Coal sales amounted to 482,000 t in 2013 compared to 424,000 t in 2012.
