Fuel Tech receives air pollution control orders for coal powered units

World Coal,

Fuel Tech announced the receipt of four air pollution control (APC) contracts from customers in China worth an approximate US$ 2.5 million.

The first two awards are for ULTRA systems for four large coal fired units that are being retrofitted with nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction technology. Fuel Tech’s ULTRA process provides for the safe and cost-effective on-site conversion of urea to ammonia for use as a reagent in the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx, eliminating the hazards associated with the transport, storage and handling of anhydrous or aqueous ammonia.

The third and fourth contracts are for two medium natural gas fired units and a refinery facility, respectively. Equipment deliveries for all four contracts are expected to occur later this year.

Douglas G. Bailey, Fuel Tech CEO, commented, “China remains an important part of Fuel Tech’s overall growth strategy, and we will continue to pursue the many opportunities this region offers. We have now successfully deployed our APC technologies on over 800 combustion units worldwide, almost half of which use fuels other than coal. We are committed to provide innovative solutions to a global marketplace to meet customer needs across a broad generation mix.”
