World Coal,
Glencore has welcomed the NSW Planning Assessment Commission’s (PAC) decision to approve the Bulga Optimisation Project (BOP).
The NSW PAC approval is a positive endorsement of Glencore’s inclusive planning process and consultation with the communities of Bulga, Broke and Milbrodale in developing this project.
The project will allow operations to continue until 2035 largely within the mine’s existing footprint. The project will maintain current production levels of approximately 6 million tpy of saleable coal.
Glencore continues to focus on maintaining efficient, long-term, low-cost coal production. BOP is expected to deliver more than US$1 billion in State royalties over the life of the project, and create additional jobs during the infrastructure construction phase.
The BOP project received appropriate Federal Government approval earlier this year.
