Essar Oil appoints new exploration & production CEO
Essar Oil has appointed Manish Maheshwari as the new CEO to oversee exploration and production of coalbed methane (CBM).
The company’s CBM portfolio includes 15 blocks and fields in India and abroad. Essar’s primary exploration and production business centres largely around its CBM block at Raniganj in West Bengal and is currently producing 300 000 m3/day.
The block is spread over 500 km2 and has the potential to reach a total production of 3 million m3/day in the next three to four years.
Maheshwari will also oversee Essar’s production and exploration of conventional oil and gas assets.
Maheshwari was previously the managing director of Hindustan Oil Exploration Co. Ltd – a mid-level oil and exploration company.
