Clarke Energy presented with Queen’s Award for Enterprise

Clarke Energy, specialist in gas-fuelled combined heat and power for natural gas, biogas and coal mine gas applications, has been presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

The award, one of the highest accolades for business success, was presented to two Clarke Energy employees at a presentation in Knowsley, Merseyside, following an official reception attended by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.

Clarke Energy’s global headquarters are located at Knowsley Industrial Park, Liverpool, England. The company is a specialist in the engineering, installation and maintenance of low-carbon and renewable power plants using gas engines. The company has experienced a number of year’s robust growth, exceeding £224 million turnover in 2013.

Clarke Energy is the authorised distributor and service provider for GE’s Jenbacher gas engines in 16 countries including the UK, Ireland, France, India, Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Tanzania, Algeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho. GE’s Jenbacher gas engines can operate on a wide range of renewable and low-carbon fuels including natural gas, biogas, sewage gas, landfill gas and coal seam gases. The company is also a specialist in combine heat and power – the high efficiency conversion of gas to electricity and useful heat.

Clarke Energy won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade – in recognition of having achieved overseas earnings growth of 129% over the last six years.

Clarke Energy’s Chief Financial Officer, Peter Holliday and Managing Director for the UK, Ireland and sub-Saharan Africa Haydn Rees met with HM Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at a special evening at Buckingham Palace.

Officials, including Dame Lorna Muirhead, then visited Clarke Energy’s head office in Knowsley, Merseyside.

Holliday said the firm was “delighted” to have received the Queen’s Award for the company’s “performance in international trade [...] This success is due to our focus on delivering high quality gas-fuelled combined heat and power plants, supported by local dedicated service teams.”
