Indonesian coalbed methane player to begin drilling next year
The stage is set for the drilling of coalbed methane (CBM) to begin in East Kalimantan. Coal mining firm, PT Resources Alam, has announced plans to begin drilling coal seams for natural gas in 2015.
Director of the Indonesian company, Wimpi Salim, said the firm will begin working on its East Kalimantan CBM block next year. Salim added that Resources Alam has invited Ephindo Kutai North Inc and Total EP Indonesia – a sub division of Total – to work on the unconventional gas project.
About US$ 6 million of investment is likely to be needed to complete drilling at the CBM block.
