Pöyry awarded coal handling contract

Finnish consulting and engineering company Pöyry has been awarded the EPC contract for a new coal handling system at the Panay Energy Development Corp. (PEDC) power plant extension project in the Philippines.
The contract includes a 65 m extension to the existing jetty, conveying systems to take the coal from the jetty to the storage area and then on to the crusher building, a covered storage yard and associated works, such as piling and civil works, firefighting system, lighting and utilities. Construction will begin this month and be completed by early February 2016.
The extension project will add 150 MW of capacity to the existing 2 x 82 MW power plant, which is located in Iloili City on Panay Island and will supply power to consumers on the island and into the regional grid.
