South Africa's Transnet have released a statement assuring that delivering tonnages would remain unaffected by the shut down of its coal export line because the break was factored into its schedule.

The South African logistics firm closed down the line over a 10-day period for annual maintenance.

Transnet commented that the shut down was designed to assist with a maintenance backlog and upgrade its railway network.

Companies such as Exxaro, BHP Billiton , Glencore and Optimum Coal Holdings use the export line to transport the commodity.
