UK-based company, Cummins Power Generation, has launched a new lean-burn gas generator set product line.
The new 50 Hz products, which extend the capabilities of the existing QSV91G generator range, offer exceptional transient performance and improved fuel capability, allowing them to run on low methane number fuels and produce lower emissions.
The new line marks the debut of a 2 MWe variant, alongside the improved 1540 kWe and 1750 kWe models.
The company said that the new models would suit challenging applications and use in remote locations. Primary applications for the models include prime, peaking and combined heat and power (CHP), as well as continuous operation in island mode and standby power.
The models can handle robust loads and are able to run on pipeline and low methane number fuels down to 43 MN. These features mean that the models can be used in remote minesites where grid power is unavailable.
The company said it was committed to reducing its carbon footprint, and as such NOx emissions ratings from the model are as low as 250 mg/Nm3 are available where required. The model range retains its ability to run on biogases from landfill, digester and sewage sites.
The new product line is designed to meet the ISO 8528 G1 standard. The compliance means that the new models deliver improved transient performance with quick recovery to rated voltage and frequency during start-up as loads fluctuate.
The company said it has completely redesigned the generator sets’ turbo layout. Among the new features of the models is the new back start capability, whereby the generator can be brought into operation without relying on an external electricity source. This allows the generator sets to be deployed anywhere, as needed. The product can run in high altitudes and high ambient temperature environments with minimal derate.
