Weekly production at US coal mines totaled 19.2 million short t, according to the latest production estimate from the US Energy Information Administration – an increase of 6.2% on the previous week and 0.5% on the same period last year.
Production east of the Mississippi increased from 7.5 million short t in the previous week to 8 million short t, while west of the river production rose to 11.2 million short t from 10.6 million short.
Year-to-date production now stands at 123.1 million short t – 3% up on the same period last year.
