Quaker Chemical presents DUSTGRIP®

Published by , Editor
World Coal,

Quaker Chemical Corp. exhibits DUSTGRIP® – a family of dust suppressant products – for aiding improvements on dust control in mining operations at the 2015 Illinois Mining Institute (IMI) Annual Meeting.

In any mining operation, particularly underground coal mining, respirable coal dust is a detrimental but inherent consequence, resulting in health and safety hazards to workers. Overexposure to respirable coal mine dust can lead to coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP), and the formation of dust clouds that can become explosive if a methane ignition occurs.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration's (MSHA's) new respirable dust regulation requires lowering the level of respirable dust from 2.0 mg/m3t o 1.5 mg/m3, and mandates a significant increase in sampling frequency. These new regulations require full compliance by 1 August 2016.

In alignment with MSHA's new regulations, Quaker’s DUSTGRIP® provides:

  • Reduction in the generation of airborne particles in mining operations.
  • Ability to act as a settling aid in various water treatment and washing applications, keeping water lines and water sprays clean, and reducing the amount of equipment changes needed?.
