Indonesia to cap coal production in 2015

The Indonesian government is on track to cap the country’s coal production next year, according to a senior government official.
Speaking to the The Jakarta Post, R. Sukhyar, director general for minerals and coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, confirmed that the government would limit coal production to 400 million t next year.
The Indonesian government has talked about capping exports in the past but has so far been unable to implement such a policy. Coal output this year is expected to reach 421 million t, the same level as 2013.
